Getting More Out of the Sun's Rays: Artificial Photosynthesis

  2. This video talks about artificial photosynthesis, which can be used through a piece of silicon, which absorbs sunlight and makes electricity. This can be used to make electricity from the sun, which can be used in cars and causes less pollution, hopefully this will succeed.

  6. The article goes into slightly more detail about the video, as it talks about how if we used hydrogen fuel instead of fossil fuels, then in comparison, it would be much cheaper. It would be much easier to use natural gas rather than split water into hydrogen and oxygen.

  9. Plants make sugar out of solar energy, but they are trying to use plants and solar energy to make fuel. They have a plant with platinum catalyst particles and instead of making electricity, they will turn it into hydrogen, a gas that has storage potential. Scientists would like to make a way to create solar energy because it leaves out a lot less carbon dioxide and because the sun is a sustainable source of energy (as it will outlast humans).
