Facts: 1. In order for a tree to maintain health, it needs water and nutrients. 2. Water is transported through the roots in a process called Transporation. 3. The xylem allows water molecules to pass through this tube like structure to get to all parts of the plant. 4. Phloem allows carbohydrates and amino acids to pass into storage. A.D.C.
this was a great video! I found the stomata and the garbed cells most interesting and how they regulate the flow of incoming and outgoing passage of moister and gasses. I also found the xylem and how it defies gravity when it trans ports water molecules from the roots to the braches and leaves. E.D.B
i think that she explained it realy good it is a little more interesting thought when there is someone there talking and when there is emotion but the photos were amazing and it was easier to follow then the video we did in class.
Things I learned: 1. In order for a plant to be able to do photosynthesis, water and nutrients need to be able to move through the entire plant, even against gravity. This is called transpiration. 2. Transpiration uses osmosis, gravity, and the surface tension of water. 3. Stoma cells are microscopic. 4. The mesophyll layer is spongey. 5. Water potential is low in the leaves of a plant. 6. Xylem is composed of vessels and tracheids. 7. Adhesion is the attraction of water molecules to a surface. 8. Cohesion is hydrogen bonding between water molecules. 9. Phloem transports carbohydrates and amino acids. 10. Sucrose is manufactured in leaves.
I learned that the water and the food of the plant needs to move in anyway to get all around the plant. this is off topic but I have watched a video with my aunt. it was about how the Venus fly trap can be "knocked out" with drugs. after the plant was drugged the plant would not move. the plant even being burned could produce electricity.
She was pretty clear explaining. The video mentioned that in order for photosynthesis to occur, water and nutrients are needed. She said even against gravity. It is called transportation when the water flows throughout the tree. Leaves on a tree has several layers of cells. The upper epidermis is one cell thick and is the protective covering. There is mesophill tissue is in the middle.
In order for a tree to thrive, it needs water and nutrients. water is pulled from the roots to the leaves in a process called transpiration. water potential drives the movement of water from one area of the plant, to the other using osmosis, gravity, and the surface tension of water. the arrangement of the cells, and water potential, determined the direction in which water will move through a plant. L.G.S.
In order for a tree to carry out photosynthesis and maintain it's overall health, water and nutrients need to move throughout the entire tree (even against gravity.) Transportation happens when water is pulled from the roots to the leaves. Water potential drives the movement of water from one area of the plant to another using osmosis, gravity, and the surface tension of water. A leaf contains several layers of specialized cells. Stomata are microscopic openings flanked by guard cells. MJS
In order for a tree to carry out photosynthesis water and nutrients have to move through out the whole tree, it does this against gravity too! when water is pulled from the roots and to the leaves, so the plant may survive is called transportation. The leaf contains layers of specialized cells. THe upper epidemis is one layer The thick, and provides protective covering against intruders. The palisade and Mesopytll cells is were you are going to find photosynthesis. And that is were the plant stores food and water. In the spongy mesophyll has a loose layer of cells. Stomata is a microscopic opening to release water.

I thought it was interesting how movement in vessels can only go one way, but the sieve-tube members can go either way.
