  2. I did not get a lot of what he said but I paused the video and drew and wrote about the diagrams he drew. I wrote down the prefix's for the words. But I like this guy better than the other ones we have been doing, even though the guy talks really fast I liked the way he did everything. it was colorful. I liked the explosion parts.

  3. I found that it was not all that fast at home as it was a school I thought that the Bozeman science videos and the crash course videos were tied for greatness I would give them both a 9 out of ten
I found the prefixes interesting such as:
METH: means 1 element it was also interesting how the drug that the doctor provides and the drugs you get on the street were not all that different
    ETH: means 2 elements
    PROP: means 3 elements
    BUT: means 4 element
I think that the prefixes are pretty weird prefixes and I wonder if they are Latin or something organic science sound like an interesting career

  4. I found this article very interesting because it had it was full of information. such as how he showed us the prefixes such as ETH two and PROP which means three and BUT means four.
How does he talk so fast

  5. 1. There are prefixes that he talked about, which were used in the names of the Hydrocarbons.
    1 meth
    2 eth
    3 prop
    4 but
    5 pent
    6 hex
    7 hept
    8 oct
    9 non
    10 dec
    (List found here: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Prefixes_for_hydrocarbons_for_1-10)
    2. Rearranging the atoms on a hydrocarbon can allow it to become more useful, an example he gave in the video: Butane in normal form is shaped like a line. If you branch one off, like a T shape (Example VVV)
    (O = Carbon Atom) OOO
    O
Then it has a lower boiling point, meaning it's easily burned.
Question: If all of our hydrocarbons were depleted, what would happen to Earth?

  6. i couldn't really understand this guy i watched this three times just to write down (almost) everything.
it was fascinating how carbon is in so much of our life.
i also think its cool how when astronauts go to other planets the first thing they look for is carbon, which means that there was once life there.

  7. I literally thought that this guy's mouth was going to fall off because he was talking so fast, but I enjoyed and learned a lot about organic chemistry once I slowed it all down. I learned that carbon is the element of life, and we thought carbon compounds could only be produced by living things. When astronauts go to planets the first thing they look for is carbon, because carbon=life whether the planet had life on it or has life on it. Carbon is also the foundation for all biological molecules like how Silicon is the basis for most of the rocks on earth. Organic compounds that only have hydrogen and carbon are called hydrocarbons which are pure and saturated. Hydrocarbons are used in gasoline, methane, propane, and diesel fuel. There are two forms of Butane: Normal Butane and Isomer Butane. The more carbon compounds you add to an atom, the more things you can make. Isomer Butane's structure is built a lot more complicatedly than Normal Butane.
Question: Is it possible for an object to contain carbon?

  8. dang, that guy talks fast.
I found it interesting that the only difference between amphetamines and methamphetamine is the one carbon atom. I also found it interesting how carbon is the basis of all life on earth.

  9. I never knew that carbon was in so much of our life! I knew that chemistry was really important, but I didn't know it was this important! We wouldn't survive if we didn't have chemistry. This guy talked so fast that I couldn't really grasp what he was talking about, but I did understand his main message that he was trying to get across, and that was that carbon=life. I always thought that oxygen and hydrogen were the most important elements, but I guess carbon is up there too! JMJ
