1. Earth quakes are very devastating. In places like southern California were earths quakes are conmen it important for scientist and to know where there is a chance a earth quake cold ocher
ReplyDelete2. It helps because in places where there are many earth quakes architects billed the billing’s with reinforcements. If they did not know about earth quakes in the reagent they would not billed the billing stronger which would result in much more structural damage daring an earth quake
3. I did not have any questions

1.) This topic is important, because just because of this earthquake our days began to get shorter. 2.) Knowing about this topic helps our lives, because know we know that we don't have a lot of time in the world to waste, and that we should treasure each moment of our lives. 3.) My question is does every earthquake shorten the days of the earth and if it changes earth's axis every single time. A.P.H
ReplyDelete1.) Earth quakes kill thousands of people every year all around the world.
ReplyDelete2.) If we know when an earth quake will happen we could help the people near it.
3.) My question is when will we be able to tell when an earth quake will happen and if so could we be more protected if we know about it days before?
b.m.m
I think I know the answer to your question: If we have studied the plate tectonics, and their movements, we could measure the pressure of two plates and predict when an earth quake will happen. Also, we have warning systems that tell us when a disaster is going to soon occur.

1. This topic is important because if scientists knew when the next earthquake was, then they might have a chance of finding out when the next tsunami. People could prepare themselves if they live around common areas for those kinds of incidents and be more aware of why they are happening.
ReplyDelete2. Knowing about this helps us live our lives because we wouldn't be in fear of earthquakes, we would be prepared, but also to live our lives boldly and not to live in hiding places.
3. If one continental plate moved, wouldn't that effect move oceanic plates to cause more problems?

Yes, I agree with you, b.m.m, that we could help people near earthquakes if we knew when an earthquake was going to happen. I also think it would be helpful if we could build safe houses for the community in places like Haiti.

1.This topic is important because it affects the length of our day and it is something we will need to monitor, because if this happens a lot, we might end up having a 23 our day.
ReplyDelete2. It helps us live our lives by knowing that sometime in the future we will have shorter days, and it will help us to remember not to waste our time because our days will be shorter at some point, and we will need to use our time more carefully.
3. At how fast of a rate are our days getting shorter and does it happen with every earthquake, or just very strong ones? JMJ
good point about not wasting time

it is important because if we don't track earthquakes, it could be noon and we think that it is 11:00
ReplyDeleteKnowing about helps us because we can tell scientists about when the earthquake happened
I would like to know about how to track earthquakes
G.B.G.
I would like to know how to track earthquakes as well JJP
Delete1. This article is important because it tells about the earthquakes and aftershocks in Chile, and tilted the earth's axis a few centimeters further. This affected day's average time, but only by a microsecond (millionth of a second). This relates to us because even though it was far away, it's affects can reach us somehow. For example, when earthquakes happens out in the ocean, we get tsunami warnings in Washington.
ReplyDelete2. Knowing that we can have natural disasters here, we can be prepared for when one could occur. We live on an island with only ONE bridge, so if something happens to it, we will have to use ferries or rely on food storage to survive. We have had earthquakes here in the past.
3. If there were enough earthquakes happening at once, could the land break down and the axis tilt further?

1. This topic is important because it effects lives. With the time, and that it kills people.
ReplyDelete2. This topic helps us live our lives because it helps us realize that in a few million years the days could be shorter, and that an earthquake could happen any time, so we should our lives to the fullest.
3. I was wondering if all the lost time from earthquakes will add up and make days shorter some day.
JJP
Delete1. This topic is important because otherwise we wouldn't know what the shaking of the ground is.
ReplyDelete2. Knowing about earthquakes helps us in our lives because if we know what areas get earthquakes often we know to build stronger buildings there.
3. The thing I would like to know more about is how to detect the size of the earthquake.
CML
1. This topic is important because it helps us know more about earthquakes and how to be prepared for them.
ReplyDelete2. This topic helps us live our lives because it helps us predict when and where earthquakes are going to hit, which can save millions of lives.
3. What effect would a large earthquake have on Whidbey island?
CJB
1. The article is important because we should know how we are being effected. The whether is different because the seasons have shifted.
ReplyDelete2. This article helps us realize how short life is, even if its only by micro seconds. We should enjoy every part of our short meaningless lives. Also its nice to understand when earthquakes are to be expected for safety reasons.
3. If there are lots of earthquakes, will that add up and make days extremely shorter?
